Stem Clubs and Tutoring
I’m Ben Maki.
I’ve been teaching math and science for almost twenty years in the classroom and at outdoor education camps.
I’ve always believed the best way to learn a subject is to get in there and just use it. So that’s what we’re going to do.
Math Club
Math is, above all else, useful-even if you don’t know what for. At math club, we’ll play games, do activities, make stuff and solve real world problems…all with math. Its not a “math class” though. The activities will be hands-on and based on real-world uses of math. I only call it Math Club so we remember why we’re really there.
Grades 4 through High School are welcome. We’ll all be doing similar activities, but they will be structured to meet students at their level.
STEM Clubs
We’re not going to let the robots win. STEM clubs will give students opportunities to learn and practice tech skills in a variety of areas. We’ll be starting this year playing with Arduino boards. That means a little circuit building, a little coding, a little creativity and a lot of fun.
Tutoring and Classes
Sometimes it helps to have a little focused attention. I am available for private and small group tutoring sessions. I can just help out as needed or I can be your actual teacher.
Whatever you need, I got you.
